Location

WyHy Federal Credit Union partnered with TruEdge in 2024 to design and construct a new ground-up branch in Lyman, Wyoming, replacing its former small in-line branch location. The new facility was developed to better serve members and expand services within the community. The completed branch includes private offices, a vestibule, lobby, transaction area, waiting area, breakroom, workroom, restroom, and janitor closet. The project was delivered on schedule and within budget despite several unique site and design challenges.

Summary

Balancing Standardization and Customization

With four existing branches, WyHy wanted to incorporate the most successful design elements from previous locations while eliminating features that were unnecessary or ineffective. Achieving consistency without sacrificing functionality required careful planning and coordination.

The Challenges

High Water Table Conditions

The project site presented an unusually high water table at only 4–6 feet below grade. This created the potential need for dewatering during foundation work, which could significantly increase project costs and complexity.

Remote Location Constraints

Lyman’s remote location created logistical and construction challenges. The team evaluated both premanufactured and traditional stick-built construction methods. While premanufactured construction offered potential cost savings, it limited customization options needed to meet the credit union’s goals.

TruEdge delivered a fully customized branch solution for WyHy Federal Credit Union by incorporating the most effective features from the credit union’s existing branches while eliminating unnecessary elements. Through careful planning, detailed coordination, and ongoing collaboration, the new branch was designed to enhance both operational efficiency and member experience.

To overcome the challenges of Lyman’s remote location, TruEdge selected a fully custom stick-built construction approach, providing the flexibility needed to meet WyHy’s functional and branding goals without sacrificing quality.

The team also implemented an innovative foundation solution using the Mono Slab EZ form system to address the site’s unusually high water table. This approach eliminated the need for costly dewatering, reduced construction expenses, and maintained project quality standards.

As a result, the 1,862-square-foot branch was successfully completed on schedule and within budget.  Our TruEdge team delivered an upgraded, modern facility that better serves WyHy members and supports the organization’s long-term growth in the Lyman community.
