Summary

Branch Prototype Design
TruEdge was tasked with creating a new branch design that balanced fresh, modern concepts with select proven elements from previous branch environments. The space needed to efficiently accommodate four full-time employees along with all essential back-of-house functions. The overall design vision focused on creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflected both the credit union’s brand identity and the character of the local community.
The Challenges
Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) Integration
The branch design was centered around the implementation of ITMs in place of traditional teller stations. The planning approach carefully considered how, when, and where ITMs function most effectively within the branch environment to create a seamless and intuitive member experience while supporting operational efficiency.
Maximizing a Small Space
The location for this first prototype branch had been selected prior to the design phase - a compact 1,440 square-foot space within a strip mall environment. Comparable branches with similar programming requirements typically range from 2,000 to 2,300 square feet, making space efficiency a critical priority. Every square inch was thoughtfully planned and optimized to maximize functionality, staff support, and member experience within the smaller footprint.
TruEdge partnered with Vantage West Credit Union to develop a highly efficient prototype branch that blended the credit union’s brand identity with modern operational strategies and proven design best practices. Through conceptual test fits, immersive 3D modeling, and virtual walk-throughs, the team refined the layout, finishes, and member experience early in the process. Working within a compact 1,440-square-foot footprint required thoughtful space planning and multifunctional design solutions to maximize efficiency without sacrificing comfort or functionality. The branch was also designed around ITM integration, with strategically placed machines and semi-private transaction spaces that support both operational efficiency and member comfort. The result is a highly effective, warm, and welcoming branch environment that fully optimizes the smaller footprint while providing members with flexible service options and a seamless banking experience.
