TruEdge partnered with Coast Central Credit Union to modernize and expand their Fortuna branch, a bustling hub branch within a smaller community. The project involved a comprehensive exterior and interior remodel, including the addition of 800 square feet of previously leased space. The interior design prioritizes natural light, spaces for member/staff interaction, and the credit union's brand identity. The exterior work focused on additional parking as well as a new drive-thru lane, and drive-up ATM. The TruEdge team successfully maintained branch operations throughout construction, minimizing disruption to members.
Summary
Maintaining Operations During Construction
The primary challenge was to keep the branch operational throughout the project given its high volume of business. TruEdge work closely with the credit union on a phased plan that allowed for both temporary branch space and ongoing drive-thru access to continuously serve the membership during the project.
The Challenges
Navigating External Factors
The project included extensive site work to significantly expand parking and the drive-thru operations while managing through the challenges of wet weather and ongoing member accessibility. TruEdge worked through all of these issues successfully due to close, ongoing communication with credit union management.
Balancing Design and Functionality
The credit was seeking to refresh and modernize the branch space while also staying focused on serving a primarily older, rural member demographic that prefers face to face interaction with staff. TruEdge was able to bring contemporary design elements into the space as well as improve branding and marketing opportunities while maintaining a warm and inviting feel.
TruEdge successfully modernized and expanded the Coast Central Credit Union Fortuna branch, delivering a contemporary and welcoming space that is well-aligned with the local market member demographics. Despite challenges related to ongoing operations, design-functionality balance, and extensive sitework factors, TruEdge effectively navigated the project, resulting in a revitalized branch that is “true” to the client's original vision.
